Details of my trip to Taiwan last Year Nov 06
Day 1 : My taiwan friend LF went to the airport to pick us up. Went to Taiwan with my mum. Staying at my friend's place ( Xin Zhu) for 3 days before heading off to Taipei via train. We have been well looked after my LF and her hubby Joseph. They are very nice ppl. We had dinner at this place Called WU GU JI. Was there when I was in Taiwan in the yr 04. They served very nice black Chicken soup and their famous mian xian! Its a must try. The soup is really tasty. Its definitely great to have especially during winter it helps to warm up the body and its good for health.
After dinner we headed off for hotspring. What a great feeling to sleep that night after the hotspring.
Day 2 : We headed off to a place called Shan Shang Ren Jia. On our way there, we stopped over at the Shin Zhu Gao Tie train station. This is the Taiwan version of bullet train. You will arrive in Taipei in under an hr. When we were there this is still not in service at the time when we were in Taiwan. But its now in service.
We had to drive round the mountain before we reach Shan Shang Ren Jia. The air is fresh and the scenary was great. Its like you are on a modern highlands with big greenery around you and you get to taste really good western food there and its not expensive.
After relaxing and catching up we headed off to Ke jia Chun ( Hakka Village) also known as bei pu. Here you can try different kinds of hakka food. Later at night we had ma la huo guo ( hot and spicy steamboat) for dinner back at Xin Zhu which is pretty famous.
Day 3 : We headed off to Taipei via train from Xin Zhu. Upon arrival we had to switch to their underground to xi men ding where our hotel is located which is Rainbow hotel. This is quite a famous hotel to stay as its at a convenient location with the train staion just 5 min away and you have food and shop around it. The famous Ah Zhong Mian Xian is just there as well next to body shop. This is also the place where singers will have their promotion of their albums there as well as signing of their cds. After checking into the hotel we headed off to have the famous ah zhong mian zian and followed by tea nearby at a café for a drink and cake. After that we head off to Dan Shui. Which we will be able to see the beautiful sunset there by the sea. We tried some food there at dan shui. The famous tall ice cream is along there as well. See the pictures later of the stall. After hanging at dan shui we headed back to the hotel. Met up with Jaslin and Mabel later at night for a Karaoke session at Qian Gui 錢柜 which is not a far walk from the hotel. Our K session ended at 3am although we have it till 5am as we have a day tour the next day so we headed off back to our respective hotels and to meet up again at 7.30am for the day tour.
Day 4: Day tour to Zhong Zhen Ji Nian Guan – Jiu Fen – Ye Liu – Yang Ming Shan for Hot spring .
Day 5 : shops at the taipei station metro are not open till around 10.30am or 11am. Before that we had breakfast at 85 degrees café . which is outside Zhong shan Metro station. Shopped at the underground mall before heading off to Wu Fen Pu at Song Shan via train. Shopped till our legs are tired haha. Later on we headed off to 101 which is located at the Taipei city hall station. Went up of course and had a view of the Taipei city. Saw the transition view of the city between day and night. Saw the sunset view of the city. We then head off to New York New York for a while to shop before heading off to Shi Lin via taxi as we had quite a bit to carry and we are tired. After the food there we head off to the shops opposite to shop again haha!! Till 11 plus or so we decided to head back to the hotel as we are tired from the walking and carrying of our shopping. Note you can take the metro to shi lin by alight at the station jian tan
Day 6 : we shopped at xi men ding for a while and have our breakfast before taking a cab to Taipei train station to take the train back to Xin Zhu where Lf will be picking us up. we had lunch together and later on we went to visit Chen mama ( Lf’s mum) and we had dinner together.
Day 7 : relax and had lunch with LF before we head off to the airport for home sweet home. I will be back again Taiwan! Naruwan!

after dinner we drove for 45 min to have our hotspring bath. We have a nice room to ourselves with our personal hotspring bath as u see the above pic.
there is a lcd flat screen tv a resting area and a toilet. They provide mineral water for free . after hotspring do drink lots of water as u tend to dehydrate after the hotspring bath
Xin Zhu's Gao Tie Station ( taiwan's version of bullet train). It was not in service when we were there. It officially started sometime in December or January 07. To Taipei from Xin Zhu via this bullet train is only half an hour and it cost 290NT (around S$15). We stopped by the xin zhu gao tie before heading off to the xin zhu town to get some snacks and drinks for our journey to shan shang ren jia and bei pu ( hakka village)

yuan yang steamboat. One side hot and spicy while the other is their normal soup base. Frankly its quite spicy but still acceptable.

above is a shop selling shell food. Below is how the shell food look like after it was cooked. It tasted pretty good. Have a go at it when u are there at dan shui.
